Of course you can never give up making art, but many give up making art for a living.
Why?
Simply because they are so many artists out there! And the hard work that goes in to getting noticed is not sexy.
There is so many artist out there with the same type of dream,
that's what makes buying art from them is so meaningful.
Because every time you buy or even support an artist you keep their dream alive.
There is a misconception that artists wouldn't mind giving their work for free and they make art just for the fun of it.
That could be correct if they are doing it as a hobby (even if its a hobby the word hobby doesn't even do their passion justice. It needs a better word)
But for the artist who are doing it for a living, that just isn't the case. You are literally slapping them in the face.
In order for us to make art we need to sell our art, in order to support our families, we need to sell our art and charge for commissions.In order for us to participate in shows, we need to sell our art, in order to avoid working at a job we hate.. we have to sell our art.
Its a job, none the less.
With that being said, it being a job is why a lot of artist want to give up.
Some can't take on being an artist, marketer, bookkeeper, Business person, etc.. Its a lot of hats they have to wear.
Often times they wonder if they are on the brink of quitting, or they are about the reach the turning point of the best moment of their life for their career.
This is why I made this new art piece
It represents all those feelings stated above.Her eyes represent sorrow, the crown represents her greatness, her holding on to those swirls represents how life gets hard but she holds on.
Have I ever felt like quitting? More then I would like to admit, but I'm sure I'm not the only one. We are all human, its natural. I heard billionaires say they would want to quit what they do. But they don't, for the same reason I wouldn't quit.
Because I couldn't live without not doing it.

If Your an artist and want to quit your career because its getting hard.. or your listening to those who believe that it's not a real career..
Keep going..
The impossible was done by those who believed it was possible
And if this were easy we would have more artists in this world.
Rejoice that you are doing something that many would give up instantly on.
